Role overview:

The Planner, Live Journalism will work with the specialist team on sales analysis, inventory and pricing that best meet the client expectations and proposal objectives by account/campaign (team or category) while maintaining pricing integrity and inventory package strategy for our live events and conference business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Live Journalism Sales specialist team with sale of Live Journalism events securing space availability, reservations and providing analysis; creating contracts to reserve inventory for all incoming accounts

  • Produce sales proposals in the order management system leveraging yield tools

  • Solid understanding of WSJ | Barron’s Group Live Journalism products and operational capabilities

  • Prepare reports used by management and sales teams for forecasting, analysis, and budgeting

  • Reserve the campaign in the order management system once deal is approved

  • Work with specialists, programing team, sales team and campaign management to timely launch, and assist in client optimizations so that revenue is maintained and balanced with client goals

  • Utilize historical data to support strategic decisions about new sales programs

  • Be involved in client communication and able to speak to media strategy, product recommendations, and the Wall Street Journal Live Journalism business value proposition

  • Monitor and assess performance and use performance data to inform future proposals

  • Monitor campaign delivery and make optimization recommendations based on performance

Qualification/Requirements:

  • 1-2 years working within a live events operations or planning team

  • BA/BS College degree preferred

  • Experience using one or more internet ad serving system and order management systems (i.e. DFP/DSM, Operative, 24/7, Adtech, OAS, etc.) preferred

  • Expert level Excel modeling experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and creatively problem solve within short time frames

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working with key stakeholders

  • High level of initiative and self-motivation

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in person, over email and on the phone

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
