We’re looking for a Business Development Executive Director for OPIS, A Dow Jones Company based in Rockville, MD with remote work flexibility. In this role, you need to be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit to help develop our retail fuel pricing software and analytics business globally in the convenience and oil company space as well as new initiatives in our product roadmap.
Identifying key target customers and working with the sales team to penetrate the company with one of our software or data products.
Develop, coordinate and execute a business plan to grow our existing products globally and work to develop new products and enhance existing products.
Actively manage the overall development of new and existing product initiatives through coordination with technical and business teams.
Focusing on acquiring new sources of data that can be utilized to improve our products and services globally.
Identifying key problems and business challenges facing our customers and working to solve them by interfacing with product management and development teams to determine ways to enhance existing tools or build new products and reports
Liaison with the marketing team to develop key messaging and communication programs.
Periodically attending industry conferences and trade shows as well as client on-site visits in order to network, develop relationships, and keep on top of current trends. While travel is currently limited, you may need to travel up to 25% of the time once business returns to normal.

In this role, you will be joining the OPIS Retail team, a high-growth division that is dedicated specifically to providing solutions for the retail fuel marketing industry, with exciting high-profile product launches on the horizon. OPIS Retail team members work with fuel retailers and convenience store operators to provide data and analytics that help them optimize their business operations and run more profitably and efficiently. You’ll also work with other industries that utilize OPIS data, such as connected cars and mobile app/web clients who display OPIS real-time retail fuel prices to consumers when it’s most critical to them – as they are looking to fill up their vehicles. And in a world where the reliance on fossil fuels is slowly diminishing as we look for cleaner and more sustainable energy options, OPIS is diversifying and future-proofing our business by expanding into clean energy, alternative fuels, and data and analytics for electric vehicles, while still providing world-class data and products for the energy that moves us today.
A bachelor’s degree. Business, Marketing, or Communications degrees are a strong fit for this role.
Prior experience of at least ten years working in software customer support, sales, marketing, or a similar role.
Fluency in English, with other languages desirable based on our global customer base.
Experience providing top-notch client support, helping to maintain OPIS’s reputation for industry-leading customer service.
Flexibility in your schedule, with the occasional early-morning or late-evening meeting with clients and/or colleagues across the globe.
Excellent technical acuity, with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Azure DevOps, and Netsuite (or another CRM software). Proficiency in Power BI, SQL Server Management Studio or Python is a plus, but not required.
A dynamic and engaging person, who enjoys building relationships, gaining expertise, and earning trust with our clients.
A natural presenter, comfortable leading virtual and in-person meetings.
Confident speaking with clients of all job levels and titles, from the day-to-day users of our services all the way up to C-level contacts at some of the largest retail companies in the world.
A self-starter with strong attention to detail who is comfortable with the changing priorities that come with a high-growth division.
Not afraid to strike up a conversation with someone in a professional environment and are happily developing and nurturing relationships with important industry contacts.
Organized with solid problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Able to uncover and decipher complex problems and think outside the box to create solutions.
